Our headquarters in Tucson, AZ, is searching for an Engineering Fellow to serve as the RMS Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Discipline Lead. Raytheon Company Overview The Systems Design Center (SDC) within the System Design & Performance Directorate has systems design responsibility for programs in the following product lines: Naval and Area Mission Defense, Air Warfare Systems, Land Combat Systems, and Air and Missile Defense Systems. SDC is responsible for the overall technical integrity of the systems being developed, and is the point organization for coordinating across disciplines, including: Electrical; Mechanical; Software; Specialty Engineering; Test; Guidance, Navigation, and Control; Modeling, Simulation and Analysis; and Signal Processing. The organization often takes the lead on Failure Review Boards, Engineering Review Boards, and other cross-discipline engagements. The center is currently looking to hire an Engineering Fellow to support the Missile Systems’ MBSE efforts. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment. Job Description: The MBSE Discipline Lead will serve as a key subject matter expert within the RMS Applied Systems Engineering Technology Pyramid, and will be the primary focal point for process definition, refinement, and implementation of MBSE across all RMS programs. This Engineering Fellow will be responsible for defining and driving the roadmap for MBSE utilization and expertise across the business. The role will require acting independently to identify and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of MBSE across RMS. This individual will also guide the successful completion of major program efforts in a technical leadership capacity. The individual will represent the organization as a prime spokesperson for MBSE and will interact with senior leadership to plan and execute its practice on programs, while also helping to shape the strategic direction of RMS product development to accomplish long-term objectives. Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Drive the effort to refine and establish the RMS Implementation Roadmap for MBSE Direct the implementation of the MBSE Roadmap across all RMS programs Refine and execute the RMS plan for delivering MBSE training to ensure employee engagement and competency Engage with the larger RMS Engineering organization to understand evolving product capabilities and technology insertion in order to bring MBSE efforts to bear in support of those activities Collaborate with other Model-Based Engineering (MBE) experts within RMS on tool / process integration Collaborate with other Raytheon business units on the capture of MBSE best practices Become viewed within the company as an expert in MBSE, with demonstrated knowledge across the full life cycle model for Raytheon Corporation as well as the industry Responsible for providing guidance, coaching / mentoring, and training to engineering staff across the enterprise Engage across engineering disciplines to ensure proper implementation Pursue MBSE research and development funding both internal and external to Raytheon Required Education, Experience and Skills: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance (an Interim Clearance is required to start employment) Bachelors of Science (BS) in engineering, math, or physics from an ABET accredited institution Advanced degree(s) preferred. Minimum of twelve (12) years of systems engineering or related experience with exposure to more than one of the following lifecycle phases: subsystem or system architecture development, requirements analysis and development; system performance analysis; integration and verification; production support Minimum of six (6) years of applied technical work experience in the application of MBSE to complex technology systems Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a technical project lead, IPT lead, team lead or other leadership role involving leadership / influence over a technical team Minimum of four (4) years of experience giving technical briefs or presentations to both expert and novice audiences Demonstrated subject matter expertise in MBSE, t o include: Application of MBSE across the full product life cycle Application of MBSE to complex integrated HW/SW systems Expert knowledge of SysML Experience employing one or more SysML tools (Rhapsody, MagicDraw / NoMagic, Enterprise Architect, etc.) Desired Education, Experience and Skills: Masters of Science (MS) or higher in aforementioned disciplines Recognized industry leader in MBSE, with papers presented at national / international conferences / colloquia A "big picture" thinker with strong written and oral communication skills, having sound judgment and decision making abilities, able to effectively juggle multiple tasks and priorities, an advocate for process improvement, and a team player able to build strong relationships and effectively partner with others Demonstrated ability to visualize system functionality, to create accurate system models, and to analyze system performance Demonstrated ability to logically analyze issues and define solutions Demonstrated ability to perform trade studies to optimize system performance Demonstrated ability to cast vision for new and unique solutions and effectively build support for them across large organizations Familiarity and interest in Agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe, Lean, etc.) INCOSE certification at the CSEP or ESEP level Familiarity with DoD customer infrastructure with respect to command and control, telemetry, flight test, ISR, fixed wing, and/or rotary wing systems Proven ability to interface with customers including USAF, USA, USN, USMC, MDA, AFRL, and/or other USG agencies and lead technical solutions to complex user requirements Experience in writing proposals and developing business cases This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
