We are Raytheon Missile Systems RMS and we design, develop and produce missile systems for critical requirements, including air-to-air, strike, surface Navy air defense, land combat missiles, guided projectiles, exoatmospheric kill vehicles, and direct energy weapons. The Electrical Subsystems Directorate ESD at RMS performs hardware development and product support for missile systems, from concept to manufacturing. The vision of the ESD is to be the best provider of integrated and affordable electrical subsystems and guidance sections through technical innovation and functionally strong partnerships. Job Description : This Department Manager will be responsible for EO Subsystem program execution, strategic development and resource development. The department is responsible for the architecting EO products, defining and flowing down requirements, as well as modeling, simulation and analysis of products. The department manager is required to thoroughly understand the work products and execution processes of the department and to strategically measure, optimized and improve both over time. The Department manager will work closely with IPT leads and be directly involved in proposal plan development, team execution and transition to production activities. Strong leadership characteristics, accountability, and contribution to define, and alignment to achieve, the strategic vision for the EO Product Center and the ESD organizations are required. These organizations strive to be accountable and innovative, with rapid response to customers and problems while insuring the highest levels of design integrity. Cross collaboration and network / relationship development with key stakeholders, peers, and customers are of critical importance. In addition this leader will be responsible for employee performance management, goal setting, career guidance and development, compensation, and ranking & rating assessments. This leader will support business needs through appropriate hiring and staffing activities, as well as develop partnerships across RMS Engineering, Raytheon, industry, and academia to facilitate strategic capability development. This leader will champion respect, ethics and diversity initiatives within the organization and across the department. Required Skills : Bachelor’s degree and 12 years direct related experience Experience in leadership roles with strong technical and management background. Thorough knowledge of EO product development, factory process, SCM and key personnel. Strong knowledge of EVMS, program planning and management. Proven background in design compliance during design/development. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively and inspire peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a team environment. Proven experience in balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success. Capability to think broadly across the system. Ability to effectively work multiple tasks and priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Desired Skills : Expert knowledge and experience leading a multi-disciplined department. Experience in developing and/or testing missile components. Familiarity with standard tools and processes. Strong systems thinking with good analytical skills. Able to network/influence outside EO Center with other design organizations such as SD&P, ST, SCM, MSD, RF and EE Centers. Education: Bachelor’s degree is required. Major(s): Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or other related technical disciplines. Master’s or Doctorate degree preferred. Security : Must currently have or be able to obtain a DoD issued Secret security clearance. This position requires the ability to obtain and hold a DoD secret security clearance. This position requires the successful issuance, transfer or maintenance of any clearances and/or accesses necessary for the position. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
