Reporting to the Mine Water Division Leader, the primary focus for the Senior Hydrogeologist or Senior Consultant is to grow Golder’s mining market share related to groundwater services using existing networks, to develop new business opportunities, and to understand and maintain existing key client relationships. The Senior Hydrogeologist or Senior Consultant provides guidance and consulting services in specialist areas and is expected to establish strong linkages across the Global Mining business.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in delivering services to the mining industry related to hydrogeologic characterization, feasibility studies, environmental permitting, water rights, mine dewatering, injection and well testing, and environmental impact assessments. The candidate will also have substantial experience in and technical expertise related to operational mine water management, heap leach design, and deep groundwater investigations.
A key component of the Senior Hydrogeologist or Senior Consultant role is to work with local Golder counterparts and external clients to develop opportunities, and liaise and link the delivery of those opportunities to the broader mine water hydrogeological technical team, much of which is currently located in other Golder offices. This role is an integral part of the development and delivery of the Mining business strategy for Mine Water Services, in line with Golder’s Vision, Charter, and Destination. As such, the individual would also be expected to:
Display safety leadership
Work collaboratively with other senior members of the Golder Mining team to implement the business growth strategy, develop and maintain relationships with a broad client base, and build a vibrant Mine Water Practice.
Lead multi-disciplinary project teams on local, regional and international consulting projects so they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client and Golder’s standards.
Deliver leading practice consulting services to internal and external clients
Manage or direct complex mine water management studies and operational programs
Establish linkages with other business units to support and enhance service delivery
The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
Bachelor degree in Hydrogeology or Geology or a related field. Postgraduate qualification in engineering or environmental management would be an advantage.
Connected to the mining business in the state of Arizona, with active contacts and clientele.
Experience in the state of Arizona related to mine operations and environmental permitting. Similar experience in the Western United States will also be considered an asset.
Registered Chartered/Professional Engineer or Member of a related professional body.
10 to 15 years’ experience in the mining sector.
Proactive approach in technical service delivery.
Ability to lead and guide high performing teams, including high-level communication and presentation skills.
Experience in developing client relationships and contributing to business growth.
Track record of winning work individually and for others.
Flexible, adaptive to change and demanding conditions.
